Deborah McLaren
Deborah McLaren is another nationally published and collected artist who is a native of Pittsburgh, PA. Now residing in Mystic, Connecticut, she has had a lifelong love of art and painted since her childhood. A graduate of both the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh, she also studied at the Woodstock School of Art and Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Connecticut, as well as with several nationally and internationally respected artists, including James Sulkowski and Frank Webb (Pittsburgh), Ian Roberts (France) Jon deMartin and Deane Keller (Connecticut).
Ms. McLaren's versatility is evident in both her variety of mediums and her subject matter. She creates in oils, acrylics, egg tempera and ink, with subjects ranging from still life and landscape (including historic sites) to antique and classic automobiles and iconography. She has also created art for numerous book jackets.
She was also awarded an Artist-in-Residency in 2003 as part of an internationally selected group of five multi-disciplinary artists at the Julia and David White Artists Colony in Ciudad Colon, Costa Rica. Deborah's work has been featured in many fine art galleries throughout the U.S., as well as juried in numerous shows. Her work is found in many private and public collections both in and outside the United States.
Deborah is a faculty member of the Mystic Art and Lyme Art Associations, as well as a member of the Connecticut Society of Plein Air Painters, the Lyme Academy Alumni Association and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh Alumni Association.
Renaissance Gallery is proud to have featured Ms. McLaren in one-woman shows in 2003 and 2004, and 2006.
