PETER MAX
Peter Max is one of the most important artists of our times. He evolved from a visionary pop artist of the 1960s to a master of neo-expressionism. His techniques of vibrant color have become a part of the contemporary American culture.

Born in Berlin, Germany in 1937, Max lived in China until his family moved to the United States. Trained at the Art Students League, Pratt Institute, and the School of Visual Arts, all in New York, Peter opened a design studio and created campaigns for fashion companies and designs for books and posters, amongst others. After closing his studio in 1964, he began creating his characteristic paintings and graphic prints

In his global causes, Max is a passionate environmentalist and defender of human and animal rights. He often uses American symbols in his work and has done paintings and projects for Presidents Ford, Carter, Reagan, both Bush presidents and Clinton. He was also appointed as the official artist for World Cup USA '94 and created a "Peace Accord" painting for the White House to commemorate the historic signing.

Peter Max has exhibited in over 40 international museums and over 50 galleries. His artwork can be found in the permanent collections of leading museums, including MOMA, New York.
