ERIC ROSE
SCULPTURES
Oil:

The inspiration for this piece was a vision of a golden-green stream of oil pouring down onto a woman’s outstretched hand, then streaming down her arm to clothe her body in a thick gown which pooled around her feet.
The Essentia Collection

Eric Rosé’s artistic focus is the portrayal of motion and energy, and the challenge of expressing and releasing movement through artistic mediums which are inherently static.

The “Essentia” series consists of four works which use the figures of dancers to express the essential movement of the substances for which they are named – Water, Fire, Oil, and Wind.

Fire:
The writhing, spiraling energy of flames rising from a bonfire were the inspiration of the pose for this dancer and the color of her clothing.
Water:
The idea for this piece came to me more as a shape and a color which I had to search for a pose to fit. The final form of the piece is a combination of the flat arcs of foam left by the surf when it draws back from the beach, and the curled, raised shape formed by a cresting wave.

The inspiration for this piece was a vision of a golden-green stream of oil pouring down onto a woman’s outstretched hand, then streaming down her arm to clothe her body in a thick gown which pooled around her feet.
Wind:

The general shape and color of this piece was suggested by the billowing shape of a storm cloud in an evening sky.
