BIOGRAPHY
Janet Stapinski began painting at an early age and has always had a strong desire to create art.
Born in Connecticut, she acquired an early love of New England, especially the shore areas and the Atlantic Ocean around Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. When her love of this region is com- bined with an equal passion for gardening and the inspiration taken from the beauty and color of flowers and nature in general, it is no surprise that her palette presents a beautiful reflection of a beautiful spirit unleashed through a formidable artistic talent.
While in her early teens, Janet's family moved to western Pennsylvania and she eventually attended the Shadyside Center for the Arts. Her love of travel has taken her throughout Europe, Nova Scotia, San Diego and the coastal areas of Eng- land, with frequent trips back to her childhood roots of the New England area and her greatest source of inspiration, Martha's Vineyard, where she loves to paint on location "en plein air".
Janet's bold palette of strong primary colors has placed her work in many private collections throughout the United States and won her numerous awards and recognition in juried shows, including Best of Show in 2004 at the Cental Coast National Fine ARt Competition in Morro, CA and an Award of Distinction in May of 2007 at the American Impressionist Society's 8th Annual National Juried Competition in Chicago. In August of 2007, Janet recieved an Award of Excellence from the Hilligoss Gallery, also in Chicago. Janet is a member of both the American Impressionist Society and the Oil Painters of America.
We are proud to say that Janet exhibits her work frequently at Renaissance Gallery and her images have graced our walls and inspired our clients since the 1980's.
